The project
A new workplace—and the start of something bigger.
After more than 15 years without a substantial workplace update, DLA Piper used its move to The Stack as an opportunity to rethink the workplace and the role it could play in the firm's culture.
Working alongside Gensler, Blackburn Young helped translate that vision into a furniture solution across four floors. The specification process was particularly important. DLA Piper wanted offices and workspaces that genuinely supported its teams while creating an environment that could contribute to attracting and retaining people.
Blackburn Young provided planning and specification, procurement, project management, delivery and installation. The furniture solution included Knoll Reff private offices, Knoll Dividends Horizon workstations, Aeron seating and ancillary furniture throughout the workplace.

The workplace
Built around how people work.
The project wasn't simply about replacing a 15-year-old workplace with something newer. Furniture and settings needed to support different ways of working—from individual offices and workstations to meeting, collaboration and shared spaces.
The result gave DLA Piper a new Vancouver workplace built around both the day-to-day needs of its people and the firm's broader workplace goals.
The relationship
From Vancouver to a national relationship.
The Vancouver project also gave Blackburn Young a strong understanding of DLA Piper's corporate culture and facility goals—and established a partnership that extended beyond the original project.
Blackburn Young subsequently furnished DLA Piper's Toronto and Montreal offices, coordinating execution in those markets through the MillerKnoll affiliated dealer network.
